How to reach Amritsar at Golden Temple?
You can reach Amritsar by air, train and road.
The Amritsar Airport is about 11 km from the city. Direct flights from cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai and Srinagar are available. Amritsar airport also has international flight connectivity. So, if you are visiting from any other country, you can directly land to Amritsar for your Golden Temple visit.
Is there any dress code for Golden Temple?
There is no dress code in the Harimandir Sahib Golden Temple Gurudwara. But covering your head is must there with any handkerchief, scarf or dupatta. As you are going to a holy place for the blessings of Waheguru / God, it is advisable that you should avoid wearing short dresses (cover your legs), sleevless top or kurta.
Are bags allowed in Golden Temple?
Women can carry their hand bags with them. So, you can carry a small bag. But if you have luggage bags or any other bigger bags, they are not allowed to go in the Gurudwara. You have to deposit your bags at the cloak room available in the Gurdwara.
Is Golden Temple open 24 hours?
Golden Temple Gurudwara is open to enter 24 hours. all days of the week. But if you want to enter the place where Guru Granth Sahib is kept and Gurbani Kitran takes places, it starts at 4:00 am in the morning till 11:00 pm night.
When to visit Golden Temple?
The best time to visit the Golden Temple Amritsar is in the winters as the place remains hot in summers. You can plan your Golden Temple trip any time between Octorber to March. Do visit the Gurudwara in the morning. The Palaki procession take place at around 04.30 am.
